Help & FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about MOTs, booking, payment and what to expect.

How early can I book my MOT?
You can have your MOT done up to 28 days before it expires without losing your renewal date — the new certificate runs from the old expiry. Book any time and add your vehicle details when you check out.
What do I need to bring?
Just the vehicle and, if you have it, your previous MOT certificate. Everything else we record from your registration and details when you book.
How long does an MOT take?
A Class 4 MOT takes around 45 minutes. You can wait in our waiting area (free Wi-Fi & tea/coffee) or drop the car off and we'll let you know when it's ready.
What happens if my car fails?
We'll explain exactly what failed and give you a fixed quote to put it right — nothing is done without your approval. Minor repairs re-tested within 10 working days are free.
Do I pay now or at the garage?
For most services we take secure online payment at booking(via Stripe) — it guarantees your slot and speeds up check-in. A pay-at-garage option is available on selected services. Prepayments are refunded automatically if we can't confirm your slot.
Can I reschedule or cancel?
Yes — from My Bookings or your confirmation email. Cancel an upcoming booking and any prepayment is refunded to your card automatically.
What's the difference between an MOT and a service?
An MOT is a legal annual safety/emissions test. A service is preventative maintenance (oil, filters, checks) that keeps your car reliable. Many drivers book both together — see our MOT + Service bundle.
